Hungry for some spicy food? Well look no further than the infamous Mammer Jammer! With a wide variety of options on the menu (not like you are going to need it) and late night hours on Friday and Saturday, this could very well be the place to put your money where your mouth is. Mammer Jammer is known for making the best "soul" steak sandwich around...the mammer jammer. There is more to this sandwich than meets the eye. Behind that delectable hoagie bun, sizzling steak and melted cheese is a sandwich that is willing to bite you back!
Mammer Jammer was founded by Richard back in 1972. They were originally located off of Delmar Boulevard and Kingshighway and then moved to a nice convenient spot off of Olive Boulevard closer towards downtown. Mammer Jammer was located there for many years; except for when they closed down for a 3 year period. Richard moved to Chicago and got a "real job", but it just was not working for him. His passion is cooking. So he left Chicago and re-opened Mammer Jammer right where he left it. He later moved to his current location on Natural Bridge and has been there ever since. One of Richard’s favorite things to do is watch anyone who dares try one of the hotter Mammer Jammers.
Not all of the Mammer Jammers are incredibly hot, so let us go down the list. You have your choice of the following: Regular, Mild, Mixed, Hot, Extra Hot, Super Hot, Mary Francis, Big John, and the deadly "The It". Many have fallen before this beast of a sandwich, but some have also survived. If you are brave of heart, try "The It", but be warned...it can hurt you. With that said, the actual Mammer Jammers are delicious and nice twist of a philly cheese steak (which they offer as well). So if you are feeling like you have to test your spicy appetite or you just feel like eating one of the best steak sandwiches St. Louis has to offer, then stop by and have yourself a mammer.
